چکیده

The idea of exploiting both task and data parallelism in programs is appealing. However, identifying realistic, yet manageable example programs that can beneet from such a mix of task and data parallelism is a major problem for researchers. We address this problem by describing a suite of ve application from the domains of scientiic, signal, and image processing that are of reasonable size, are representative of real codes, and can beneet from exploiting task and data parallelism. The suite includes fast Fourier transforms, narrowband tracking radar, multibaseline stereo imaging, and airshed simulation. Complete source code for each example program is available from the authors.

IMSuite: A Benchmark Suite for Simulating Distributed Algorithms

Considering the diverse nature of real-world distributed applications that makes it hard to identify a representative subset of distributed benchmarks, we focus on their underlying distributed algorithms. We present and characterize a new kernel benchmark suite (named IMSuite) that simulates some of the classical distributed algorithms in task parallel languages. We present multiple variations ...

Data - Level and Thread - Level Parallelism in Emerging

Multimedia applications are becoming increasingly important for a large class of general-purpose processors. Contemporary media applications are highly complex and demand high performance. A distinctive feature of these applications is that they have significant parallelism, including thread-, data-, and instruction-level parallelism, that is potentially well-aligned with the increasing paralle...

CMU PRF using a Comparable Corpus

We applied a PRF (Pseudo-Relevance Feedback) system, for both the monolingual task and the German(->English task. We focused on the effects of extracting a comparable corpus from the given newspaper data; our corpus doubled the average precision when used together with the provided parallel corpus. The PRF performance was lower for the queries with few relevant documents. We also examined the e...

Modeling Parallelization and Flexibility Improvements in Skill Acquisition: From Dual Tasks to Complex Dynamic Skills

Emerging parallel processing and increased flexibility during the acquisition of cognitive skills form a combination that is hard to reconcile with rule-based models that often produce brittle behavior. Rule-based models can exhibit these properties by adhering to 2 principles: that the model gradually learns task-specific rules from instructions and experience, and that bottom-up processing is...

Static Task Allocation in Distributed Systems Using Parallel Genetic Algorithm

Over the past two decades, PC speeds have increased from a few instructions per second to several million instructions per second. The tremendous speed of today's networks as well as the increasing need for high-performance systems has made researchers interested in parallel and distributed computing. The rapid growth of distributed systems has led to a variety of problems. Task allocation is a...
